“Grounded Intuition is a superpower in all situations”

Why we all need to embrace our intuition

When many think of intuition and spirituality, the images of rainbows, butterflies, unicorns, and candle-lit rituals can often come to mind. There have been so many misconceptions around metaphysics and consciousness that it has inspired many light-hearted memes… and yet we all find balance easier when we learn to embrace our intuition.

When your intuition and spiritual practice is grounded, your everyday experiences flow better, even when you hit a wave. I recently had an experience where my intuition came to the rescue.

Close encounters of the Skunky kind 🦨

Last week, our cat Leo b-lined out the door. He meandered back after making his rounds shortly after. Unbeknownst to me, a skunk had wandered through our yard the night before, leaving his telltale mark behind. Leo ran in and it wasn’t long before I got a whiff of what had happened!

Yup… Skunkie Mcskunkie pants.

My mind did what it does best; it jumped right to the worst possible scenario. I imagined myself knee-deep in tomato juice for the rest of the afternoon derailing my day.

That aha moment!

Thankfully, I stopped it in its tracks. I took a deep breath and said to myself… remain calm…

I moved to my inner sanctuary and held a moment of silence.

Then bubbling up to the surface, I heard, powder, powder, powder.

I wondered… powder?… Then I heard… Baking soda…

Hmmm, interesting, I wonder what that means.

So I jumped online and side-stepped the million posts on skunk myths and immediately found a quick recipe to neutralize the stink.

In divine order, I had all the ingredients in abundance.

I whipped up a quick batch and within 30 minutes, my dear little Leo was back to his sweet-smelling self.

The moral of this tale

You see, when we allow our minds to run the show, our subconscious will automatically jump to the worst-case scenario. Its natural default is survival, and for most, those patterns are deeply embedded in fear-based thinking.

When life throws you a curveball – This is where your inner work and capacity to be the master of your mind pays off!

Stop, take a breath, and let your inner knowing guide you to opportunity.

The mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master.

If you want to stay empowered when things go sideways, inner work is where you develop that skill set.
